The Musical Journey

If you are thinking, "I'm not that patient of a person to learn music, or to write music.", then you should be learning music. It is a process to learn how to learn music, play an instrument, write a song, etc., but it is a VERY fulfilling process.

As you discover the way you can express yourself in music, you learn get excited about what you are learning and doing! You start to realize that the learning and process are part of the FUN of learning, and that there is as much, if not more, satisfaction in the process of the learning as there is in the achieving of the goal.

The fun in the learning can be personal, but it can also be shared. If you share your musical learning with others, you not only have more enjoyment in the learning, you learn more than you would by yourself. It is definitely a matter of “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” (Aristotle)

Do not be deceived in thinking that there is no personal learning done. There is definitely that- the more effort you put in personally, the more you get out of it. But when you get together with others, the sharing of music with each other is even more fulfilling.

PLUS, you remember that thought about not having enough patience? Well, the more you exercise patience, the more you will have!

I mentioned before that there may be some references to the Lord of the Rings. Well here is one.

When Frodo and Sam, Merry and Pippin started on their journey, they did not know what was in store for them. To a greater or lesser degree, they were ignorant of the perils and adventures that awaited them on the road to Rivendell, and beyond to the lands of Mordor.

What kept them going, beyond the fear and anxiety that would have made them run off screaming, was the conviction that they were doing the right thing.

Conviction is a strong motivator. When you are convicted by what is right to move into action, that conviction will keep you moving forward, regardless of the distractions, barriers, and obstacles that may comein your way. You will be able to do amazing things in the face of great trial because you are motivated by that conviction to do what is right.
